Redness Treatments

Intense Pulsed Light IPL, is a light based treatment proven to provide a solution to various skin conditions on the face and other areas of the body commonly the arms, chest area and hands
Redness treatments using IPL are fantastic for 'rosy cheeks' individual capillaries, redness on the chest area (commonly seen as a result of wearing t-shirts over the years).  The light targets the oxy-haemoglobin, red pigment found in the blood cell; (capillaries, red veins, rosacea, redness). The light energy converts to heat energy and it is this heat that cauterises the tiny capillary wall, without overheating the surrounding skin. The capillaries are then absorbed, with the individual capillary either going completely with one treatment, or redness reducing over the next few days.
For stronger vessels such as on the nose and fine spider veins on the legs we use Formatks Nd YAG laser which has a stronger energy and can target and treat these vessels.  Often one to two treatments for facial veins and leg vessels may require a few more treatments.   There is no scabbing or down time, following these treatments.

Results you can see

The below before and after photographs are of real patients from our clinics, and have not been altered in any way. Individual results may vary.
It often takes more than one treatment over the entire area to get the best result.  Often it is recommended 4-6 treatments be taken. The degree of redness and capillary size will influence the number of treatments needs as does individual response. Treatments are performed every 3 – 6 weeks depending on the area.

There is usually redness in the area treated immediately after treatment.  There can be slight swelling in the treated area. This may take 48 hours to lessen.

The treatment feels like hot flicks of a rubber band.  It is normal for the skin to feel mildly sunburnt after treatment.  This takes a few hours at most to get back to normal.  It is important at this stage not to overheat the skin for 24 hours with hot baths, spa baths or saunas.  Alcohol and coffee (stimulants) may also make the treated area feel hotter.

It is highly recommended to not use any AHA or Retin A type products on the area until it has fully healed.
